Practical workplace communication, professional etiquette and team culture training for ambitious African startups building for the global market.

The gap
As African startups grow, their teams increasingly work with international customers, investors, partners and distributed teams. But professional communication and workplace etiquette are rarely taught.
Small communication habits can affect customer trust, team relationships, leadership and the way a company is perceived.
We help founders build teams that communicate with confidence, clarity and professionalism.
What we teach
Clear, respectful and effective communication across teams.
How to communicate professionally without losing personality.
How to show up, contribute and communicate with confidence.
How to give, receive and navigate feedback constructively.
How teams should communicate with customers, partners and international clients.
Understanding the unwritten rules of working across cultures and borders.
Professional boundaries, respect, accountability and healthy team interactions.
Helping every team member understand that they represent the company.
Programmes
Every engagement is delivered live and virtually, shaped around how your team actually works — not a fixed course.
One live 60–90 minute session focused on the areas your team needs most, with a written summary and recommendations afterwards.
A series of sessions across a quarter, building communication, etiquette and feedback habits as your team grows.
A programme built for your context — customer-facing teams, new managers, distributed teams or onboarding.

How it works
Tell us about your startup and your team's needs.
We deliver a practical live session tailored to your team.
Your team leaves with practical tools they can use immediately.
A short-term introduction to our work: four African startup teams receive one full live session at no cost, in exchange for honest feedback. Once the four slots are taken, the campaign closes and standard engagements resume.

The founder
Team Standard was founded by Keji Pius, who has spent her career inside startups, fintech and technology teams — working alongside engineers, operators and commercial teams, and communicating daily with customers and partners across different countries and time zones.
That experience made one thing obvious: talented teams often lose trust not because of their product, but because of how they write, respond, run meetings and handle difficult conversations. Those habits are learnable — and rarely taught.
This training exists to close that gap for African teams building for a global market.
In their words
Our support team now writes to customers with a confidence we didn't have before. The session on client etiquette alone changed how we handle difficult conversations — we stopped losing trust over tone.
Operations Lead, Digital Cap FX
We came in thinking we had a communication problem. We left with a shared language for how we run meetings, give feedback and represent the company. The whole team references the session weeks later.
Founder, Rach
The training gave our engineers a practical framework for working with international partners. Our stand-ups are sharper, our emails are clearer, and cross-team friction has dropped noticeably.
